Note from the Author.
The province of Ituri in the Democratic Republic of Congo has 46 collectivities of which 7 belong to different groups of Bahema. According to the Ethnologue 125,000 Bahema speak the Hema dialect (Oruhema or Oruhuma) but their total number is about half a million.
This collection of 100 Hema proverbs will help many people to explore again Hema wisdom and it will also bring a contribution to the study of Hema Language which needs to be revitalized today.
